The game featured the infamous "Florida Flop" which allowed Gators QB John Reaves to break Jim Plunkett's NCAA career passing yardage record.
Late in the game with Florida up big and Miami with the ball, Gator defenders flopped to the ground to allow Miami to score. Reaves got one more offensive possession and broke Plunkett's record.
The previous season, then-Tampa head coach Fran Curci called Florida "cry-babies".
