The 1982 California vs. Stanford game is best known for "The Play", a game-ending multi-lateral kickoff return for a touchdown scored by Cal as Stanford's band came on the field before the game was over. The Play is also remembered for Joe Starkey's excitable radio call, as he yelled "The band is on the field!" during the final return.
