Gail Ross Cogdill (born April 7, 1937) is a former American football wide receiver for the Detroit Lions (1960-1968), the Baltimore Colts (1968), and the Atlanta Falcons (1969-1970). He attended Washington State.
College career[]
He held an NCAA record in college by gaining 252 yards against Northwestern on 7 receptions. He played in the East-West Shrine Game and All-Star game.
Professional career[]
The first Cougar to play on a Super Bowl team was legendary receiver Gail Cogdill. The Spokane native and 1960 NFL Rookie of the Year with Detroit was a member of the Baltimore Colts when they faced off against Joe Namath and the upstart New York Jets in one of the most storied games in professional history:Super Bowl III, a 16-7 upset win by the Jets in 1969.
