Career history

Greg Childs (born March 10, 1990) is a wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL. He played college football for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Early years[]

Childs attended Warren High School in Warren, Arkansas. He was all state selection as a senior in 2007.

College career[]

As a freshman in 2008, Childs played in 12 games with one start and had 18 receptions for 273 yards and two touchdowns. As a sophomore he started eight of 13 games and led the team with 48 receptions for 894 yards and seven touchdowns. As a junior in 2010, he played in eight games and had 46 receptions for 659 yards and six touchdowns before suffering a season ending patellar tendon injury.[1]

Professional Career[]

Childs was drafted in the 4th round (134th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings.

During an evening scrimmage on Saturday, August 4th, Childs tore the patellar tendon in both knees while attempting to catch a pass. He was untouched by defenders during the play. By all accounts Childs seemed fully recovered from his previous patellar tendon injury which hindered him in his senior year at Arkansas. Though limited in early offseason team activities due to a minor and unrelated injury, he was improving and looked in line to start the first three regular season games at split end due to starter Jerome Simpson's three game suspension.

Childs underwent surgery to repair the tendons on August 6 and will miss the entire 2012 season. 1500ESPN's Tom Pelissero writes, "He now faces a lengthy recovery that could affect his ability to contribute in 2013 as well."[2]
